How to Slice An Onion Without Teary Eyes :)

Ok, I learned something new a few days ago that I’m pretty excited about.

It was Christmas morning at my mother-in-law’s house, I was helping her make a salad, and my job was chopping an onion. Hmmm… The first thing that came into my mind was the tears.

Then I remembered someone told me once to use a table top fan to blow away the ‘crying fume’ from the onion, but of course there’s no table top fan in the kitchen.:) I also remembered either from reading it or watching it somewhere that chopping an onion with its outer skin still on would help to avoid watery eyes. I gave that a try and guess what? It worked! I chopped the onion without a single tear.:) However I also had to dice it into smaller pieces and by that point the outer skin was removed. So that’s when the tears came.:(

Anyone else have any good tips? Please leave a comment.
